As per records, the ancient Egyptians had used the fruit to make date wine. Date cultivation happened in modern day West Pakistan, way back in 7000 BC. Date consumption eventually spread to South West Asia and Northern Africa and Spain. Subsequently, they were introduced to the West. (1)

There are a numerous variety of dates, with Medjool and Deglet Noor being the most popular. Deglet is one of the best varieties for use in raw food because of its firm texture and not to sweet. Dale’s Raw Foods uses Deglet dates in all flavors of protein bars.

We attempted several times to incorporate IMO’s into our recipes, and concluded that they were not a good fit for our brand, as we were unable to keep our products RAW.
